Aircash Mastercard® card presented
Hrvoje Ćosić, founder and CEO of Aircash, presented all the advantages this synergy brings

A new development has just been introduced to the financial market – the combination of the Aircash mobile wallet and Mastercard card is launching as the Aircash Mastercard card!

The Aircash mobile wallet is now available in a new form as a card, designed for online shopping and payments at points of sale worldwide, with no fees for payments or wallet/card top-ups, and no monthly charges. This innovation was presented at Johann Franck with distinguished guests through an interactive fintech panel and a card presentation by Aircash founder and CEO Hrvoje Ćosić. The panel featured Boris Nemšić, entrepreneur and former CEO of Telekom Austria, Mato Njavro, Dean of the Zagreb School of Economics and Management, and Gea Kariž, Head of Marketing at Mastercard, with a lively discussion moderated by Zoran Šprajc.

The event was announced by Jelena Glišić, with musical performances by Martin Kutnar on accordion, followed by Nika Turković and Matija Cvek & The Funkensteins.

Hrvoje Ćosić, founder and CEO of Aircash, presented all the advantages this synergy brings and, on the occasion, stated:

“Aircash is the only institution in Croatia that is not a bank yet can issue Mastercard cards. These are prepaid cards linked exclusively to Aircash wallets and their balances. This means that users can only spend what they have in their Aircash wallet. The innovation lies in the card distribution method: our user can go to a retail location such as a kiosk, gas station, or store, purchase an inactive card for 30 HRK, activate it via the Aircash app by scanning the QR code on the back, and instantly link it to their Aircash wallet balance. Our card is active immediately and usable everywhere. We are confident that, with the innovative approach represented by the Aircash Mastercard card, we can make a difference in the market both in Croatia and in other markets where we operate and plan to expand. All spending, limits, and controls are managed in real time within the Aircash app.”

Aircash operates as a financial institution licensed by the European Banking Authority (EBA) and the Croatian National Bank (HNB), valid throughout the EU. With over 200,000 users and more than HRK 250 million in monthly payment volume, Aircash has established itself as a leader in the FinTech industry in Croatia and across Europe. As a result, Aircash has become a partner with the international technology company Mastercard and gained the status of Mastercard card issuer.

“As our data for Croatia shows, 46% of respondents have been using cards more frequently since the pandemic, and online card usage is also rising. Both Aircash and Mastercard are fundamentally committed to providing a practical, secure, and reliable way to pay. This is the foundation on which we want to build this modern, digital story together,” said Gea Kariž, Head of Marketing at Mastercard Croatia.

Aircash remains the only mobile wallet offering always-available cash withdrawals at thousands of locations in Croatia, money transfers, payment of various services directly from the app (such as parking, telecom and PlayStation vouchers, ENC device top-ups with account balance display and discounts for HAC or ARZ, bill payments, ticket purchases for sports and cultural events, ferry and catamaran tickets, and bus tickets for all domestic and international routes). Wallet top-ups are free, available in cash at all Ina and Tifon gas stations, all Tisak kiosks, or via Mastercard, Maestro, and Visa cards.

The Aircash Mastercard card can be purchased at all Tisak, Ina, and iNovine locations and is accepted at millions of locations – online, in stores, and at ATMs. A great advantage is that a single wallet can hold multiple Aircash cards, each with its own spending limits, ATM withdrawal restrictions, or online purchase settings. Additionally, the card can always be topped up with cash, card, bank transfer, or by receiving funds to the Aircash wallet.
