Branimir Petrušić, Product Director: Aircash makes everyday money management easier
For many people, managing money still feels more like a burden than a freedom. Numerous apps, websites, fees and small costs take up time and create unnecessary stress, and people want more clarity, control and a simpler approach to their finances.

This is exactly what Aircash builds its story on: a mobile app and digital wallet that saves users time and gives them back control over their money, making it easier to pay, send and manage finances anytime and anywhere, without the complexity of traditional banking. For example, bills and parking can be paid in a single click with no additional fees, and that is only part of what Aircash offers.

More than a decade of development and innovation

For those not yet familiar with their business, this Croatian company began its journey in 2015 in a small Zagreb office, and today it has more than 200 employees, operates in 15 European markets and counts more than one and a half million users. In one place, it enables sending and receiving money and cash deposits and withdrawals, and brings together about ten different services.

"How many different websites will you have to visit, and how many services will you have to use for a single trip? To top up an ENC or buy a vignette if you travel by car, or to buy bus, train or ferry tickets if you use those modes of transport. All of this requires going to separate websites, entering personal and card details, and approving the payment," explains Branimir Petrušić, Product Director and a person who knows Aircash like the back of his hand, having been part of the company from the very beginning. "In Aircash, you can do all of that in one place in a few clicks. For example, you can buy bus, train and ferry tickets for routes across Europe, without going to the station or searching various websites."

An additional advantage of Aircash is that even if you only have cash, you do not have to go to a counter for a ticket. It is enough to visit one of more than 250,000 points of sale of Aircash partners across Europe, such as petrol stations or kiosks, where you can deposit cash into your Aircash account and use it immediately for all services.

Another thing that can be bought at the points of sale of Aircash partners is the Aircash Mastercard, a prepaid card linked to the app that enables payments online and in shops around the world. "There are three main advantages of Aircash Mastercard: no monthly maintenance costs or need for a bank account, quick and easy activation, and maximum security because it does not contain private data and can be locked with a single click in case of misuse. The card is linked to your Aircash account, so you spend only what you have deposited, and for additional control you can set daily and monthly limits," stresses Petrušić.

This advantage is particularly evident in the context of recent changes in the Croatian banking market. Since the beginning of this year, citizens can request free service packages for accounts into which they receive their salary or pension, but these packages come with certain limitations. They include only internet banking, while mobile banking is mostly not part of the free offering. In addition, activation requires a personal visit to a bank branch, and many additional services, such as standing orders or credit cards, remain outside the free package. By comparison, the Aircash app can be downloaded free of charge and used straight away, and neither the app itself nor the Aircash Mastercard has monthly usage costs, which makes it a practical alternative for everyday money management.

Simple spending control

It is precisely the ability for users to have a complete overview of their finances at all times that makes Aircash a particularly useful tool for smarter money management. Every transaction is visible in the app immediately after it is made, and users can track in real time how much they have spent, on what and when. "What matters most to people is having control over their money. When you can see exactly where your money is going, it is easier to decide where you can save," explains Petrušić. "That is why we have enabled setting daily and monthly spending limits."

The prepaid model on which Aircash operates further helps with disciplined spending. Since users can spend only the amount previously deposited into their account, there is no risk of unplanned overdrafts or unpleasant surprises at the end of the month. For many users, this is precisely the decisive difference compared with classic banking products.

Aircash does not stop at what it has achieved. In the near future, users can expect a significant novelty: the ability to trade cryptocurrencies directly within the app, thanks to a partnership with Bitpanda, one of the leading European investment platforms. Besides cryptocurrencies, access to fractional shares and exchange-traded funds is also planned, which would further expand Aircash's range of digital financial services. In addition, a considerably more extensive service for buying tickets to various events within the app itself is in preparation, which would take the entire marketplace to a new level.

"As we recognise users' needs, so we develop Aircash, and that is precisely why we constantly introduce new services and enter areas such as investing. Everything we do comes down to the same thing: giving users a platform for everyday payments and financial management in one place, simply and without unnecessary costs," concludes Petrušić.
