How to spot online scams

Online Security & Fraud Awareness

Stay alert. Protect yourself from online scams and fraud.

Aircash will never ask for your PIN, password, or full card details — by phone, email, or message.

What is online fraud?

Online fraud refers to attempts by third parties to deceive you into sharing personal information, account access, or money. Fraudsters often impersonate trusted companies — including Aircash — to appear legitimate.

The most common types you should be aware of:

1. Phishing

Fraudsters send fake emails, SMS messages, or push notifications that look like they come from Aircash. They typically ask you to click a link and enter your login credentials, personal data, or payment information.

How to spot it: The sender address or URL looks slightly different from official Aircash channels (e.g. aircash-support.com instead of aircash.eu). The message creates urgency — “Your account will be blocked”, “Verify now”.

What to do: Do not click the link. Go directly to the Aircash app or website. Contact our support team if in doubt.

2. Investment Scams

Fraudsters promise guaranteed high returns or exclusive investment opportunities, often via social media, messaging apps, or fake websites. They may claim to represent Aircash or a partner platform.

How to spot it: Promises of guaranteed profits or unusually high returns. Pressure to act quickly or keep the opportunity secret. Requests to send crypto or money to an unknown wallet or account.

What to do: Aircash and its regulated partners never guarantee investment returns. If something sounds too good to be true, it is. Do not transfer funds.

3. Social Engineering

Fraudsters contact you directly — by phone, WhatsApp, or email — pretending to be Aircash customer support, a bank, or a regulator. They try to convince you to share your account details, transfer money, or install software.

How to spot it: Unsolicited contact asking for your PIN, password, or one-time codes. Someone asking you to send crypto “for security reasons” or to “protect your funds”. Requests to install remote access software.

What to do: Hang up or stop the conversation. Aircash support will never ask for your password or PIN.

4. Fake Giveaways & Impersonation

Fraudsters create fake social media profiles, websites, or ads impersonating Aircash, Bitpanda, or public figures, promoting fake crypto giveaways or bonus offers.

How to spot it: Requests to send crypto first in order to “receive more back”. Profiles with slightly misspelled names or unofficial domains. No verifiable link to official Aircash or Bitpanda channels.

What to do: Aircash never runs giveaways that require you to send funds first. Report fake profiles to the relevant platform.

How Aircash contacts you — and how we don’t

Email: Used for account notifications and product updates. Aircash will never ask for your password or PIN via email.

Push notification: Used for transaction alerts and app updates. Aircash will never ask you to transfer funds urgently.

In-app message: Used for support and onboarding guidance. Aircash will never request your full card number.

Phone/SMS: Used for support and OTP codes. Aircash will never ask you to install software remotely.

What to do if you think you’ve been targeted

1.    Do not share any further information or transfer any funds.

2.    Change your Aircash password immediately.

3.    Contact Aircash support through the official app or at [email protected].

4.    Report the incident to your local police or national cybercrime authority.

5.    If you are in Croatia, you may also report to HANFA or the Croatian National Bank (HNB).
